Kelly has over 5 years of experience in drafting, reviewing and negotiating ICT/IP-related agreements, such as outsourcing agreements, SaaS/PaaS/IaaS/other as-a-Service agreements, SLAs, IT consultancy agreements, software licenses, software development agreements, ethical hacking agreements, reseller agreements, data processing agreements …, and advising in ICT/IP related issues, including data protection (GDPR) issues. She has worked for both service provider and customers, which has allowed her to deepen her understanding of issues that both parties are faced with in contract negotiations. In addition, Kelly is also active in the domains of commercial law (e.g. distribution agreements) and consumer law (e.g. webshop terms and conditions). Further, Kelly has provided assistance in relation to corporate transactions, more specifically relating to mergers (due diligence and preparing the necessary documents).

Additional Info

Kelly Matthyssens graduated as Master of Laws at the University of Antwerp in 2013 (Cum laude). She specialized further in intellectual property law and ICT law by following and successfully completing the Advanced Master in IP/ICT and Media Law at the Catholic University of Leuven (Cum laude). In august 2019, Kelly followed the Data Protection Officer training at the Data Protection Institute, and obtained her DPO certificate. She joined EY Law as managing associate in November 2019 after a career that has consisted of working in a small law firm, specialized in IT law, and later in a renowned international law firm where she joined the Intellectual Property and Technology team.

Languages

Kelly speaks Dutch and English and has a working understanding of French.
